Marking 55 years of formal diplomatic ties, Türkiye and China are strengthening their bilateral relations with a focus on trade, connectivity, technology, energy, and regional cooperation. Türkiye’s Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, highlights the historical depth of this relationship, tracing it back to the Silk Road era, which facilitated trade, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic dialogues between the two civilizations.

Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1971, the bond between Türkiye and China has grown considerably. Today, China stands as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with their bilateral trade exceeding $50 billion annually. This economic partnership is further bolstered by enhanced connectivity, as passenger and cargo flights increasingly link major cities in both nations. Türkiye has also expanded its diplomatic footprint in China, opening multiple consulates to underline its commitment to growing economic and cultural engagement.

The ambassador pointed out that both countries are focusing on enhancing cooperation in critical sectors such as artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. He emphasized that Ankara and Beijing hold similar perspectives on numerous international and regional issues, prioritizing peace, stability, development, and conflict prevention efforts. This alignment in views serves as a foundation for deeper cooperation on the global stage.

Both nations are committed to advancing their partnership under the strategic vision set by their respective leaders. This vision aims at fostering long-term economic growth and regional collaboration. With shared goals and mutual interests, Türkiye and China are poised to reinforce their ties, building a robust framework for future cooperation.
