In a move to strengthen regional security ties, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for discussions focusing on pressing regional issues. The agenda includes addressing the ongoing conflict involving Iran and recent developments in Gaza and Lebanon.
This visit marks Fidan’s second trip to the UAE since March and aims to lay the groundwork for the upcoming Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council meeting. A central theme of the discussions will be enhancing regional cooperation to tackle conflicts and reduce external intervention. Fidan is also expected to emphasize the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation through crucial maritime passages like the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, critical for regional and international trade.
Another significant topic on the table is the situation in Gaza, where both nations are projected to deliberate on the implementation of the second phase of a peace plan, along with humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts. As founding members of the Board of Peace, Türkiye and the UAE are likely to coordinate closely on these activities.
The dialogue will also cover efforts to uphold ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon, with both countries keen on supporting regional stability. This aligns with their strategic partnership established in 2023, which saw the inaugural leaders’ meeting of their High-Level Strategic Council in Ankara by July 2025.
With bilateral trade reaching $19.346 billion in 2025, the UAE has become Türkiye’s largest trading partner in the Gulf, further underscoring the importance of these talks in reinforcing both economic and security collaborations between the two nations.
