The competition begins with an online qualification round, where participating teams will tackle a case study involving a security scenario and develop strategic responses. Following this, an expert panel will review their submissions, with the best five teams advancing to the final round. These finalists will receive mentorship to enhance their capabilities before competing for victory. The program, emphasizing network protection, threat management, system security, and incident response, also integrates artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies.

This initiative follows the inaugural School of Cyber Defence competition at GISEC Global 2025, which saw over 300 applications from UAE universities and participation from 130 students in the preliminary rounds.
Open to students aged 17 and above, the contest allows teams of up to five members to participate, with no prior competition experience necessary. The prize pool exceeds AED 20,000, offering a significant incentive for aspiring cybersecurity professionals. Key dates include the closing of registration on September 3, 2026, with online qualifications by September 6, and subsequent case study evaluations from September 7 to 11, leading up to the final competition on September 18 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City Dubai.
