The reserves of Türkiye’s central bank have experienced a significant recovery, with estimates indicating an increase of nearly $40 billion since the end of June. This surge has brought the reserves to their highest point in approximately five months.
In the week concluding on August 21, the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) saw an estimated rise of $5.3 billion in total reserves. The reserves reached an approximate total of $188.8 billion, compared to $183.5 billion the previous week.
The reserves had previously dropped to about $149.2 billion by June 26, marking a challenging period before this robust rebound began. By the close of July, the reserves had already climbed to $164.4 billion, continuing to gain momentum as they advanced through August.
This latest estimated increase positions the reserves around $39.6 billion above their low point in June, marking their highest level since March 13. Official figures confirming these estimates for the week ending August 21 are anticipated for release on Thursday.
