Türkiye’s defense and aerospace sectors have reached a significant achievement, with exports surpassing $11 billion over a continuous 12-month span for the first time. This milestone highlights the country’s growing prominence in the global defense market. In June alone, Türkiye’s defense and aerospace exports amounted to $802.8 million, reflecting a robust 29.6% increase compared to the same month in the previous year. For the first half of this year, exports grew by 29.5% year-on-year, totaling $4.67 billion.
Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), emphasized that this growth is indicative of the rising international demand for Turkish defense products. He attributed this success to the effectiveness of Turkish defense systems, which have proven their worth in practical operations. Such performance has been instrumental in forming lasting global partnerships, further bolstering Türkiye’s standing in the international defense industry.
Over the past two decades, Türkiye has made significant strides in expanding its domestic defense industry, aiming to reduce dependence on foreign military equipment. This strategic focus has not only minimized external reliance but also positioned Türkiye as a formidable exporter on the global stage. The country now boasts an impressive portfolio, exporting over 230 defense products to 185 countries worldwide.
As Türkiye aims to fortify its status as one of the world’s top 10 defense exporters, these developments underscore its commitment to advancing its defense manufacturing capabilities. The continuous expansion and modernization of its defense sector have been pivotal in achieving this level of export growth, highlighting Türkiye’s role as an emerging leader in the global defense and aerospace markets.
