by admin477351

Minna Helle has been appointed the new Director General of the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK), becoming the first woman ever to lead the country’s most influential business federation. She will take over from Jyri Häkämies, who retires in May 2026.
Helle currently serves as Chief Executive of Technology Industries of Finland, one of EK’s major member organisations. Her extensive background spans both employer and employee sectors, beginning with roles in major unions before becoming Finland’s first female National Conciliator in 2015. She later transitioned to the employers’ side, holding senior leadership positions in labour market affairs and rising to Deputy CEO in 2021 before assuming the top role in 2024.
Raised in Kivijärvi and holding a Master of Laws degree, Helle has built a reputation as a seasoned negotiator and strong advocate for Finnish industry. EK’s board unanimously supported her appointment, citing her deep experience in advocacy, decision-making, and economic development.
Helle said she is committed to supporting Finnish businesses, strengthening entrepreneurship, and advancing sustainable growth. She emphasized that strong companies form the foundation of national prosperity and that EK plays a central role in shaping policies that support Finland’s economic future.
