Kyiv: Finnish President Alexander Stubb arrived in Ukraine on September 11 for discussions with President Volodymyr Zelensky focused on security cooperation, European integration, and increasing pressure on Russia.
During his visit, Stubb paid tribute at the Wall of Remembrance to honor Ukrainian soldiers who lost their lives in the war. Both leaders held talks on infrastructure investments, security guarantees for Ukraine, and ways to strengthen European support against Russian aggression.
Ukraine’s leadership highlighted the importance of coordinated sanctions to curb Moscow’s war efforts and expressed gratitude for Finland’s consistent support. Finland, which joined NATO in 2023, has emerged as a strong advocate for Ukraine amid ongoing Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.
President Stubb reaffirmed that tightening sanctions and deepening defense cooperation are key to ensuring Ukraine’s long-term security and pushing Russia toward ending the war.
